CVCNU Visits Inspector General of Police: Toward Strengthening Academic-Security Collaboration
The Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbekotun, Ph.D, NPM, at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
During the meeting, the Secretary -General of the CVCNU highlighted the urgent need for deeper collaboration between Nigerian Universities and the Police Force. He emphasised areas such as forensic science, cybersecurity, sociology, criminology, and campus safety. A proposal was made for the creation of University-Police Liasion Committee. This body will drive joint research, intelligence sharing, and civic education initiatives.

The Inspector General welcomed the proposals with enthusiasm. He acknowledged the critical role universities play in shaping national values and developing responsible citizens. He directed DIG Frank Mba, in charge of Training and Development, to partner with the CVCNU. Together, they will craft a strategic framework for effective implementation.
Both institutions demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing education and promoting national security. This visit marked the beginning of a promising collaboration.
