The National Open University of Nigeria (Noun) Appoints A New Vice – Chancellor
Professor Olufemi A. Peters, a professor of chemistry emerges as the new elected Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria.
He took over from his predecessor, Professor Abdallah Uba Adamu whose five-year tenure elapsed on the 10th February 2021.
The professor of Chemistry hails from Ogun State and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan (UI), a Master’s degree in Polymer Science and Technology from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and also holds a PHD in Degradation and Stabilization in Polymer from Victoria University Manchester Institute of Science and Technology UK.
The newly elected VC, has over 60 published works which include, journal articles, technical reports in the field of chemistry, polymer science and technology, agriculture and ODL in peer reviewed journals.
He is a member of several professional bodies such as; the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and a fellow of the society as well. The Polymer Institute of Nigeria (PIN); the African council for Distance Education (ACDE); the materials science & Technology Society of Nigeria (MSN), and the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN).
His work experience spans over (3) three decades at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira; 16 years at the Department of Chemistry, University of Lagos and 5 years as an Executive Director and Chief Executive at the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI), Ilorin an agency of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The National Open University of Nigeria is a Federal Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution and It is Nigeria’s largest tertiary institution in terms of student number and is popularly referred to as ‘NOUN’.
